My Daily Makeup Look | The Essentials

Today, for those who are curious, I’m sharing my everyday makeup routine and the products I reach for each morning.

I often reach for the same products when doing my daily makeup look. The products I will be talking about in this post are my must have essentials, I tend to use a mixture of high end and drugstore products.

I think I have finally found a set of core products that work for me, every now and then I may change these up, but more-often-than-not, I always gravitate back to my essentials.

Skincare

Prepping the skin is vital to getting any makeup look just right, for me this is the most essential part of my everyday routine, I can honestly say I notice a massive difference if I skip this step out.

I like to deep clean my skin at night and then in the morning I use PIX!’s Glow Mud Cleanser to clean off any dirt and oil that have accumulated overnight. I follow this up with a toner, a toner will give you that really fresh, squeaky clean feeling the one I am currently using is PIX!’s Glow Tonic then finally I finish by using PIX!’s Vitamin Wakeup Mist, I tend to substitute this for an actual moisturiser as I am still to find a moisturiser that I love.

Base

It’s all about the base (about the base, see what I did there), this is a step that so many people skip over, yet after prepping the skin is the next most important step in achieving a dewy, flawless foundation application. I can see a very noticeable difference in my skin if I don’t use a base, such as a primer or BB/CC cream.

If you have any problems with your foundation peeling or flaking of in dry patches, applying a base will help so much in this department.

I often switch between a couple of different primers and the one I use will all depend on what my skin needs that day. The primer I tend to reach for the most though is Benefits POREfessional, this is one of my favourites as it minimizes the appearance of pores (which is one of my problem areas) and fine lines. It leaves the skin feeling smoother-than-smooth, the formula is very lightweight and silky. What I also love about this product is that is can be applied under or over makeup, it can even be worn on its own. Another primer that I use daily is ELF’s Mineral Infused Face Primer – Tone Adjusting Green. I find myself reaching for this one when I have a lot more redness in my skin than normal as the green in the primer helps to cancel out the redness. This primer is also perfect if you suffer from excess oil and large pores.

Foundation and Concealer

After applying my primer, I then move on to foundation. I have found quite a few that I really love – the ones I’m bouncing back and forth between now are, Rimmel’s Match Perfection Foundation in 100 Ivory this one is perfect if you are wanting a bit more of a matte look but still need some hydration. This foundation gives an insane amount of coverage with just one pump, I tend to use 1-2 pumps depending on how much coverage I need that day. Even with the amount of coverage this foundation gives it is very light-weight, it doesn’t feel cakey and heavy on your face. Another foundation that I use daily is Bare Minerals, BarePro Performance Wear Powder Foundation in 07 Warm Light. This foundation is very high performance, with the coverage lasting up to 12 hours, it is a pressed foundation which I am not normally not a fan off, however this really gives amazing coverage while allowing your skin to breath. I tend to use this foundation when I am in a rush in the mornings and need something quick to use on my face. The last foundation that I use on a day-to-day basis is Rimmel’s Wake Me Up Foundation in 100 Ivory. The Wake Me Up Foundation reduces the signs of fatigue and gives brighter, poreless flawless looking skin. It also has vitamin C and radiance pearls in which gives that radiant look. I normally reach for this foundation when I am wanting a dewier, glow from within look. All the above foundations give full coverage and the one I choose really depends on what my preference is that day.

Now for concealer, I really do not have much to say about this one as I honestly use only one concealer whatever look I am going for and that is Collections Lasting Perfection concealer in Fair Shade 01. This concealer is like a gift from the gods, it hides any imperfection and blemishes for up to 16 hours, it works amazingly under the eyes give perfect coverage while not being to cakey. This is defiantly a must have product in any makeup bag.

Powder

For powder, I use either Rimmel’s Stay Matte Pressed Powder or Bare Minerals BareSkin Perfecting Veil to set my foundation, before I apply my bronzer and blush. Applying a powder will give a smooth canvas for the bronzer and blusher – if you skip this step anything you put on after foundation will go on patchy.

Blush and Bronzer

In terms of powder bronzers, there are so many out there to choose from, it can be a little overwhelming sometimes – however if you are fair skinned like myself the choices can be a bit more limiting as most bronzers are way too warm for my skin tone. I have however found one bronzer that is perfect for my complexion and this is from NYX’s Highlight & Contour Pro Palette. I sweep the bronzer right below my cheekbones, on the side of my nose and on the outside of my forehead, followed by blush on my cheeks my favourite blush to use is Zoeva Luxe Colour Blush in Shy Beauty which is the perfect colour for an everyday look.

Brows

My brows are my least favourite part of my face, they are very sparse and there is not much shape to them, so I do spend about 10 minutes perfecting a flawless shape. To start, I lightly outline and shape my brows using Anastacia DipBrow Pomade in Taupe, this is super long-lasting and smudge-proof which is perfect when you are going to be wearing makeup all day. I then lightly feel in the sparse area of my brows again using Anastacia DipBrow Pomade combined with Benefits Goof Proof Eyebrow Pencil, this is a such a good product for people who are new to makeup. Once I am happy with my brows, I then use Benefits Gimme Brow Volumizing Eyebrow Gel to comb the hairs in place.

Mascara

For my mascara, I do like to mix this up and switch between 2 or 3 different ones. My all-time favourite and the one I often choose the most is Benefits They’re Real! Lengthening Mascara, the formula of this mascara is insanely good and always makes my lashes look so long and full. Another one of my daily favourites is also from Benefit and that is the Roller Lash Mascara, this lifts and curls lashes and really opens the eyes, so is great if you are wanting to go for more of a fresh-faced look. The last mascara I tend to always use is Maybelline’s Lash Sensational this makes it look like you have layers of lashes.

Lips

Now this is going to be too hard to try and narrow down my daily favourites as I am obsessing over so many lip products right now (this really is a post on its own), but my general go to at the moment is anything nude and anything matte. I am really loving the Bare Minerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid LipColour, their formulas are so nice and don’t try out your lips like some liquid lip products tend to do.

What daily essentials would you recommend?

Bye for now peaches.
